A special update about my gorgeous Matilda.

For those that don't know she was diagnosed last june with autism and a developmental delay especially in her speech. Speech therapy has worked miracles because now the little sprite is NEVER quiet! Its still a trial some days but we are working together and getting there. She hopefully starts a new daycare centre which comes with extra help and support for her. We are also starting occupational therapy for her sensory issues.

I also find it very hard to believe that she will be 4 whole years old at the end of march.
Time flies!

She may be down right frustrating but who can resist that hat with curls peeking out!

Its quickly come upon us in a haze of tinsel and wrapping paper and then the chorus of happy new year . . but here we are . . 2010!

A year thats already full of changes . . moving into a house . . sewing again . . new therapies for my little missy . . a gorgeous boyfriend still by my side and a new car . .

Sewing is of course the highest agenda for show offs!

Nothing majorly hard or to exciting but I do love this fabric so much!

A friend ask me to create a change mat for her 2 youngest boys one of which is a toddler so it would be fitting for his size too . .

Its double sided and has 2 layers of PUL inside . . so its washable as well as waterproof . .

It will also have a snap tie on it as well !

Im slowly but surely conquering my fear of knits . . they can be so pedantic to sew with . . my overlocker will make them so much less scary I think . . well . . I hope!

This long top / tunic / dress thingo is for Matilda .. a little big as its a size 4 but I am loving it . . its not perfect and I need some practice with my bindings . . the fabric is awesome for this type of top i think with the bell sleeves and such . . knit is from CM of course!!

Three Whole Years Old!!

Well my little babygirl is now getting all grown up!! She turned 3 yesterday and we had a brilliant day . . . made a special cake . . she decorated it all herself without eating a single smartie!! My nan and pop came over to share the cake with us and bought over some a lovely solid wood doll cot as a present .. Matilda loves it!!

It was just Matilda and I . . eating .. playing .. unwrapping .. laughing . . it was wonderful . . she was so well behaved as well , which made it an extra special day for both of us!!

Her party day is tomorrow . . with all her little friends . . a toddler tea party with a special cake!!

The brown/orange pair have been upcycled from a table cloth and the flower power pair is created from 2 different printed cords . . the front has the orange and the back has the purple!

This was today's creation from a devine little 50c pattern I managed to snaffle while on a recent trip. Its a size 4 so its a little big for the miss and I really do think the sleeves need an extra something .. leaning more towards a bit of elastic to cinch them in a bit . .

It went together pretty easy although the picot edging gave me some grief . . a nice vintage touch though!

Last week my mother handed me a little package . . I had no clue what it was . . until I opened it up to find the most gorgeous little embroidered hungarian dress . . the same one I wore to my grandmother's wedding when I was a little thing . . I had seen photos but never knew she still had it . .

She said it would fit Matilda now . . I almost cried . . its been washed and just needs a little bit of the hem fixed but how exciting and awesome to have Matilda wearing something I once wore.

I am going to surprise my grandmother on sunday when we visit , by having Matilda wear it!

Out and about!

We had a blast out and about last friday with some good friends down from Queensland. It had been a while since we had seen them but Matilda and Taiya ( T is 6 mths older then M ) were straight away friends again . . its so nice to see. We hit Darling Harbour as well as the Maritime Museum and the girls had an absolute ball . . I definitely have a water baby !!

The museum had some school holiday activities happening which included arts and crafts and a waterworld . . guess which was Matilda's fave!

She also had a lot of fun in the water feature that lays in the midst of Darling Harbours walkway . .

This is Matilda's new ride. Her current one is just about to collapse and I didnt want that happening with her in it or during a busy week in which we really need it ! I got 15% off as well which was nice.

But I must admit it is very hard to find a somewhat decent simple stroller for less than $200 . .

They are visiting from interstate and thought that a little handmade dress would be a wonderful late christmas pressie for their little girl!! Its reversible . . pink with spots on one side and the gorgeous striped flowery patchwork on the other .

Thanks to a Crafty Mama called Tracy and her brillant tutorial . . I created these fantastic fabric trays!

They are so simple to make (in fact I made all 3 last night in the space of like a half hour!). . and are such a clever idea for all occassions!

These ones are christmas themed for a swap . . . they snap at the corners but can be stored flat and the best thing . . totally washable!!

They can be any size and height . . any colour . . these are going to be a favourite of mine as the possiblities are endless!

As part of yet another wonderful crafty swap I made this skirt for the Mama . . I thought it would be a nice change from kidlet clothing. I was scared at first not having made for grown up types but it turned out pretty good . . some improvements for next time .. it is a simple double layered circle skirt .. I love the puffs out a bit thanks to the lining!

Yes yes .. I know . . I have been naughty .. but its my one day I get to do so every 2 weeks and being from the Op Shop the money spent is nothing really !! I picked up some gorgeous pillow cases which will become shorts/skirts and also some gorgeously soft table cloths!!

Tables full of $5 rolls of fabric . . I withheld all week .. until today! I just could NOT wait any more and I am kicking myself kinda as well. To think of all the bargains I missed out on considering I got some today and there was almost nothing left!! So here is what I picked up . . each being $5 .. total bargain! The top 2 pictures are a cotton and cotton voile .. the lower is a knit.

So mummy and matilda are going to have a lot of matching summer PJ pants!!

Special Birthday Duds!!

A friends little man had his first birthday party yesterday and oh boy did he have a blast (bar a little accident with a pirate hat!). He devoured his cupcakes like a trooper and lapped up all the attention of course! I made up these 2 sets as his present as I know his mum had been eyeing off similar ones elsewhere and I know she loves him in red also!

The red set is made with a soft dark denim for the shorts with an aboriginal print cuff and co-ordinating tee with reverse applique patches.

The brown set is made with a fine brown pinwhale cord for the shorts with a puppy dog print cuff and a tee with reverse applique once more.

My first go at the reverse applique and I do love the effect as the edges curl!!

Girl's Night In : Girl's Day Out

To help with breast cancer research and to raise funds . . a group of people from a forum I frequent are having a get together to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. Its a pink park day!

Everyone is bringing something to eat and some of us are donating items for a silent auction to increase the money raised!

Some boys shorts are coming from me . . I will be posting pictures once they are complete and will post pics of the day tomorrow also!

Autumn Apple is coming!

After some sleepless nights I have decided to give Autumn Apple another try. For those that don't know what Autumn Apple is the name I used for my own clothing range. Things didnt go so well last time but I am determined . . with new ideas in mind . . to try my best to get it up and running again. I do need another logo though . . the one above was designed in word . . its not to bad but I do think I need a photoshopper to fix it up or help me with a new one!

I just ordered some basic clothing tattoos (labels) to go on my products . . 50 of them for $19.95 as a starter . .

These are Osh Kosh and are a dark blue with cherries . . they are a bit big . . but she will grow into them . . they are like overalls but big and puffy . . a bargain!

This set is actually a very light purple gingham . so nice for summer and the top buttons all the way down the back!

This is a skirt and top that ties at the tummy . . upon closer inspection it is actually handmade!!
